Ape and bear are two different animals with the only similarity that they both are massive and powerful. There are different types of apes and bears, and depending on that species, they both differ in physical features, habitat, and habits. What Does An Ape Look Like?

The primates include two families of species, which are classified as apes. Besides humans, the four species in this family are Bonobo, gorillas, chimpanzees, and orangutans, and these four species are also known as great apes. Apes are not monkeys, as monkeys belong to a different branch. There is much difference between apes and monkeys such as apes do not have tails, apes are usually larger than monkeys. Where Does An Ape Live?

Both types of great apes and lesser apes have a minimal habitat. The great apes are native to Africa and Asia, where they prefer to live in the jungles, mountainous areas, and savannahs. On the other hand, the lesser apes live in Asia in the evergreen tropical rainforest and monsoon forest. 

How Many Types Of Ape Are There?

There are 14 species in the lesser ape family and four apes living in the great ape family. They are gorillas, Bonobo, chimpanzees, and orangutans.

What Is The Size Of An Ape?

The great apes are more significant than the lesser apes. The largest ape species is the gorillas who measures from 4.5 to 5.5 feet tall and weighs around 200 to 450 pounds. At the same time, the mountain gorilla can grow to 6 feet and weigh from 135 to 220 pounds. The orang-utans are the largest tree-dwelling animals that reach 4 to 4.5 feet tall and weigh between 41 to 204 pounds.  

What Does An Ape Eat?

Apes are primarily herbivorous animals, but they can also eat small animals or bugs to supplement their diet. For example- the gibbons feed on mostly fruits, but they also like to munch on leaves, flowers, and insects. At the same time, the orangutans feed on a fruit diet supplemented with vegetation, invertebrates, and small vertebrates. However, a chimpanzee’s menu mainly includes insects, birds, and small mammals.

The reproduction of apes is much similar to humans because we share 98 percent DNA with them. They bear live births after the gestation period of eight and a half to nine months, delivering a single offspring. The young baby takes a much longer time to get mature as compared to other animals. The mother took care of the family for many years.

What Does A Bear Look Like?

Bears are small omnivorous animals that can be found all over the world. There are different species of bears, and so they slightly differ from each other. For example- the Asiatic black bear has a white V-shaped patch on its chest. The sloth bears have similar pieces with a light-colored muzzle; the sun bears have a crescent-shaped marking on their chests. What Is The Size Of The Bear?

Polar bears are giant bears with white fur. A male polar bear can reach be 3.5 to 5 feet long and usually weighs between 775 and 1,200 pounds. At the same time, the smallest bear is the sun bear, which rises to be 4 to 5 feet long and weighs from 60 to 150 pounds. 

What Do Bears Eat?

Bears are omnivorous and mainly feeds on vegetation and meat. Each species has certain foods that they eat more than others. Such as the polar bear feeds on seals, and the giant panda primarily eats bamboos. At the same time, the sloth bears eat termites.
